Cereal is such an easy go-to breakfast, but carb heavy and loaded with sugar. Magic Spoon is changing the game with a wide variety of flavors. I was happy to stumble over this online find thanks to predictable advertisements. (Ha Ha) Seeing that Magic Spoon offered cereals with no added sugar and low carbs, I took the bait and tried four flavors. Nutrition wise, I love each option had 13 grams of protein. This is a struggle for me to get enough protein everyday.

Artwork – The designs are colorful and definitely standout when compared to the traditional front cover of cereal boxes with nutrition facts posted on the front. It was just missing a prize like a lot of the cereals I enjoyed as a kid! Not to mention the back cover features activities to keep you occupied while eating breakfast.

Pricing – They do offer a special subscription price, but each box is $10 each on average. I managed to get four one-cup servings in each box.

Flavors –  At the time of ordering, there were eight flavors available. I opted for Fruity, Blueberry Muffin, Cookies and Cream and Frosted. As a kid, I loved all fruity flavors of cereals and almost ordered more than one box of the Fruity but wanted to try as many as possible. Here are my thoughts on each type purchased.

Fruity – This flavor was the first I tried and ended up being my favorite. It instantly brought me back to being a kid. A lot of flavors and no chemical after taste like a lot of sugar-substitutes can have after each bite.

Overall, I was pleasantly surprised at how good this flavor was and wished I had opted for buying two boxes instead one box.

Cookies and Cream – The mix of sweetness and chocolate made this flavor my next favorite pick of the four. I did find it to be a bit sweeter than I prefer, but still a great combination with an even balance of the two ingredients.

The artwork on this box was my favorite. I love the combination of blue and purple colors used and the level of detail. My favorite detail is the artist took time to make sure the character was wearing earrings and the zebra has purple hair.

Blueberry Muffin – This flavor actually tied as my second favorite along with the Cookies and Cream. I love a mix of fruity flavors, although this tasted great and just like I was eating a blueberry muffin, I got bored with it before I finished the box. This flavor needed something to balance it out, but I couldn’t figure out what would make it better. Maybe a hint of peanut butter, cinnamon or vanilla.

Frosted

I enjoyed this flavor the least. It was too bland, but not too sweet. To me, it was missing something.

If you’re a fan of adding real fruit to breakfast that may help jazz it up a bit. I actually mixed this with the Blueberry Muffin cereal and it was fantastic! Right amount of fruitiness and sweetness. 🙂

Final thoughts – I would purchase this product again as it checked all my boxes. Low sugar and carbs, high in protein and no artificial after taste. Plus, it

didn’t kick me out of ketosis which was a major concern when I ordered the cereals. Sugar alcohols are always hit or miss. I never know how my body will react to foods that use this ingredient.

The price is hard to get over at $2.50 a bowl, but I’ve learned that most healthy foods tailored to special diets are priced a little higher. I wish I could buy this at a store. Learn more at https://magicspoon.com/
